The twister hit in Oakland Park, just north of Ft. Lauderdale between
8 and 8:30 a.m., Weather Service Specialist Tyrone Mosley told CNN.
There was debris, but no immediate report of injuries, he said.
A tornado watch remained in place for South Florida until 11 a.m. ET.
CNN
affiliate WFOR reported that the damage in Oakland Park included a
large tree down and landscape damage. There were reports of a swirling
debris cloud.
In other parts of the city, strong winds, possibly from a tornado,
ripped the roof and door off of a business and overturned vehicles,
including work trailers, WFOR said.
